“I’ve been going to Freedom Ketamine for 3 years and I could not rate them highly enough. I got severe COVID early on in 2020, which led to a number of complications. Afterwards, I ended up with severe anxiety and had some trauma issues as well. I had never dealt with these issues before and nothing seemed to work. I felt pretty hopeless. In 2021 I tried to harm myself. That is when my psychiatrist recommended I try ketamine treatments. I went to two other providers before Freedom. Dr. Verdun and team have decades of experience with ketamine and how it is appropriately used for pain and mental health management. Dr Verdun regularly practices at Walter Reed and knows cutting edge research, as does Emily, the NP who normally administers my sessions. 2. Their transparency and the way they explained the whole process was enormously helpful at the beginning. It empowered me to make the right decisions for my health. In other practices, there was always a sales angle and the responses weren’t fully transparent. With Freedom, it was totally the opposite. They aren’t interested in selling me treatments for their benefit. They are here to support me, which has always been clear. For example, if I get treatments too frequently, they gently encourage me to space them out a bit more so they are actually effective, and I can rely more on the coping skills I have learned so I can become more self reliant and confident. I trust them implicitly. It’s clear they are looking out for my wellbeing and nothing else. 3. Their bedside manner is exceptional too. They are unfailingly kind, compassionate and thoughtful. This extends not just to Dr Verdun and Emily, but the whole team. They also have great sense of humor and camaraderie which makes me feel at home . The ketamine infusions knock a person out for 1-1.5 hours and one feels very vulnerable. I feel 100% safe with them, which is unique for me. They have also tried to create a space where people feel physically comfortable. They use the best materials, from super high quality masks, heated blankets, easy to use reclining chairs , and most importantly, best in class infusion equipment. They also have cameras so they can monitor how a patient is doing without interrupting the session — I haven’t seen that anywhere else. 4. They are highly responsive. Because I work in a high stress job where I travel a lot or have to manage last minute schedule changes, I’ve often had to ask for same day or next day appointments. Despite however busy they are, they have always found time for me. 5. They are always looking for feedback on how to improve patient experience — more so than literally any other doctor I’ve been to in any area. For example, Emily created a journal patients can use to set intentions and note any major themes that can up during the infusions. This simple innovation has allowed me greater insight into my thinking, which has made my sessions with my therapist more specific and productive. In sum, the Freedom team is outstanding. I can’t imagine when I would be had I not found them.”
